A truly natural product

The first generation

In 1956, Lei and Truus Nelissen started a farm with asparagus, strawberries and laying hens in Oirlo, Limburg. In 1979, they decided to continue with the laying hens alone. Lei is constantly involved in innovations in the industry.

The second generation

In 1990, eldest son Jos and wife Marieëtte took over the business and the company soon doubled in size. This is followed by a period of rethinking and looking ahead to the future.

From quantity to quality

Jos and Marieëtte decided to focus on the product itself, working with universities to find the medical benefits of an egg. With new innovations, they additionally focus on the health and well-being of the chicken.

The culinary egg

The research on medical uses of eggs teaches Jos and Marieëtte that there are also effects on the taste of the egg. Thus the idea of mixing, among other things, peppers into the feed results in a stunningly delicious egg. Marigold was born.

The third generation

The entire Nelissen family is involved in this new direction and is thinking along. Mirthe and Lei, from their background of Industrial Engineering and Industrial design, are extra involved in the development of the Marigold brand, with the beautiful design of yesteryear in a contemporary look.
